Forecasts

Cool and rainy on Tuesday

After a nice end to Monday, clouds are on the increase and rain will be following shortly behind with rain falling at the coast after midnight and rain overspreading the rest of Western Washington by daybreak Tuesday. The rain will intensify later in the afternoon in the interior making for a quite soggy day. Rainfall totals of a quarter to three-quarters of an inch can be expected in the lowlands with more at the coast – the rainiest day for most of the region since April 25

Near the water it’ll also be breezy at times with wind gusts possibly up to 25-30mph at their peak, particularly right on the water. Like last week, there could be a few isolated power outages simply because trees have their leaves now and wind load is increased.

It will be chilly with highs only in the mid 50s on Tuesday.

Rain tapers by Tuesday night but showers continue on Wednesday, especially in a Puget Sound convergence zone in the north Sound.  It will become drier late with highs around 60.

Thursday looks dry with highs in the 60s before another weather system brings some lighter rain for Friday and possibly lingering into Saturday. The forecast remains tricky for the Memorial Day weekend with rain possibly nearby and staying just offshore, but it’s possible rainfall could move in at some time over the weekend. So at this time, there is low confidence in a dry forecast for the holiday weekend. We will see that forecast firm up as we get closer.
